10 Songs Turning 10 in 2017

Yep, you've been saying "umbrella-ella-ella" for a decade.

2 months Discovery Channel

It’s time to pull out your first generation iPhone or iPod shuffle and reminisce about an era that Britney Spears would rather forget. These decade-old jams will take you right back to your high school dance.

‘Glamorous’ by Fergie feat. Ludacris

Okay, is it just me or was this not your favourite song for about seven years after it came out? just about everybody liked it and even if you were one of the few (there literally was only a few) that absolutely hated it at least it helped you ace your spelling test. G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S.

‘Makes Me Wonder’ by Maroon 5

This song truly “Makes Me Wonder” will Adam Levine ever age? He certainly hasn’t in the past 10 years…. and hopefully he won’t over the next 10.

‘Gimme More’ by Britney Spears

Have you forgotten about Britney ’07? Neither have we. It may have not been her best year… or decade, but amidst her turmoils she did make a BIG comeback on the music scene and for that I’m #thankful.

‘Crank That’ by Soulja Boy

I’m not going to lie… I still can’t figure out all the dance moves to this song, but my high school self sure thought I did. If this wasn’t the theme tune of your high school dances you NEED to find yourself a time machine and take a trip back to ’07 right now.

‘Sweet Escape’ by Gwen Stefani

Who remembers this scenario? Your mum (or dad) would drive, you’d hop in the car, grab the aux cord, and blast this tune as you drove away from school. Wow! It was such a “sweet escape” to get off the school grounds each day. If this didn’t ring a bell, I’m sorry for you…

‘Smack That’ by Akon feat. Eminem

Honestly, the more I listen to this song the more I wonder whether it was just an ad for Tae Bo. Akon mentions the fitness craze about six times so you have to ask, are they getting royalties for this?

‘No One’ by Alicia Keys

Alicia Key’s emotional single ‘No One’ had us singing at the top of our lungs, crying our eyes out, and knowing that “everything’s gonna be alright.” You loved it, we loved it. No need to deny it.

‘Girlfriend’ by Avril Lavigne

The ‘Girlfriend’ music video perfectly sums up the style in the 2000s to a T. I think it might be time to pull your Priceline pink clip-in highlights out of storage and rage with Avril. Maybe just don’t steal someone’s boyfriend?

‘Beautiful Girls’ by Sean Kingston

When Sean Kingston’s song ‘Beautiful Girls’ came out I don’t think another song played for hours in the US, UK, and Australia. It may have had to be censored, but who really noticed anyways. It was so dang catchy.

‘Umbrella’ by Rihanna feat. Jay-Z

Last but not least, we have Rhianna who made her way across the global stage with one of our favourite songs ‘Umbrella’ and has yet to leave us disappointed. This is the tune that launched RiRi from popular singer to superstar, which is great and all, but I’m struggling with the thought that it’s been caught in my head on and off for 10 whole years.
